BloGGer HaPpY HouR at DiZzY IssIe'S
Update II: Now with photos! Also, keep an eye on Kmart and Anonymous Coworker since they will be planning the next happy hour.
Update: Added some links to write ups of the happy hour.
Damn, A Fool's Fate really knows how to throw a party. I'll take a cue from Sweetney and not post a whole write up (Tuesdayscoming, checkout that link to Sweetney - you'll get a kick out of it). But I will include the obligatory list of bloggers who were at the happy hour meetup tonight (in what I believe was their order of appearance, but might just be in the order in which I talked to them), along with links to posts in which they even vaguely commented on being at the happy hour.
- Tuesdayscoming - Is he dizzy?
- Brain Coral - 3.17.05
- Brain Coral's wife (who, yes, has a name, but for the sake of anonymity I won't mention it here)
- Lost in Place
- A Fool's Fate - Aftermath
- Broadsheet - BloGGer HaPpY HouR
- Jwer - Bloggeriffic
- Andrew (Broadsheet and Jwer's friend who has no blog, but we decided we liked him anyway)
- Talkin' Loud - I Heart B'more Bloggers
- Sweetney - we are the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world
- A Doggy's Life
- Home Of Dismay
- Messy Hair Girl
- textureslut - paragraph 1 of The Tragical History
- Anonymous Coworker - What a night
- Kmart - Bloggers Rock!
- eebmore
- Jason Thomas
- Donny (also doesn't have a blog but is somehow affiliated with these guys)
- Supafine - Internet Dorks Meet Here
- Epiphany in Baltimore
- Calculator on Fire
- live in love - belated blogger geek out link-fest
- Jason Dove - hey team,
- Virginia
- Malnurtured Snay - dc between charles and st. paul bland fish

Sheesh. Do you know how long it takes to bookmark all these, especially since you have to read at least an entry before you decide to just go ahead and do it? Next happy hour, I vote for Koco's--best (and most expensive) crab cakes in town (but Thursday nights are deeply discounted crab cake nights).

I was sorry to miss the fun last night. The parents left after a week-long visit, so I needed some downtime. Perhaps next time....

I was sorry I had to miss it. Hopefully I'll be free next time.
Posted by: maphet | Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 09:28 AM
heh. you have to take out a second mortgage to pay for one of Koco's crabcakes, which honestly are just too fucking big. They're good, but no Faidley's.
Posted by: eebmore | Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 09:46 AM
Faidley's? Ew. Please say you're kidding.
Posted by: | Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 11:18 AM
faidley's his hands down the best crabcake in the world. fried, as they're supposed to be. I've never tasted a crabcake half as good in all my life. Granted, you need an armed security detail to get to it, but that somehow makes the reward that much more gratifying.

Who the ell is Donnie?

You can get a crab cake fried anywhere in the world if you ask. But that crab cakes are supposed to be fried is not in the rule book. Faidley's has, from what I remember, a pretty typical Maryland-style crab cake, but the question is whether the Maryland-style is the best. I think Old Bay is overrated. So we'll just have to disagree. I'll be mortgaging my house for my favorite cake. xxoo

heh. I cannot believe I'm getting in a flame over crabcakes. I don't remember tasting any old bay in faidley's crabcake (I HATE old bay and can taste it in a second). I do remember tasting it in Koco's. "but the question is whether the Maryland-style is the best" huh?!?! or rather, HUH?!?!
I think Faidley's trick is crab fat, or the mustard, if you will.

DaB: Surprisingly he didn't involve me in any camera tradeoffs between the two of you. Maybe if you show up next time you can ask him yourself. :)
Redux: We're sorry we didn't get to see you last night. Hopefully we'll meet up at some point!
Maphet: I have to say, I'm not surprised we didn't see you! But yes, next time I imagine you're more likely to be free.
OSP: Maybe you should come to our next meetup too, and then we can all wonder who you are. :)
eebmore, dogfaceboy, and anonymous: I can't believe this comments section has turned into a debate over crabcakes - it's all very surreal. Anyway, I hope you will come to a conclusion soon as I really could use a good crabcake one of these days.

I had a great time and I enjoyed meeting everyone who was there to be met! Hopefully Hey, Monkey!'ll stick around a little bit next time, eh?

I swear I am going to make it to one of these happy hours one of these days. I've just been too busy finishing up my Workflow plugin and some other side consulting work lately.

It was an especially good night. You can post any pictures of me that you like -- just not the ugly ones.

Performers need an audience, writers need readers, therefore bloggers need fans. It's a little un-fair-and-balanced that I know so much more about you than vice-versa -- sorry. All the internet's a stage, and I'm just a "Stage Door Johnny (or, Bennie)." It was a thrill meeting you all, kind of like BaltBlogFanConWinter05. You're the virtual Baltimore I accessed before moving here from Chicago in January (for nursing school at Hopkins) -- now I live within your grid, and you've become real -- and quite cool -- to me.

Ben, hurry up wit your blog man! But alas, my blog is displaced... ok I lost my blog.
