Whenever I move, I get called for jury duty within the first few months. So today was supposed to be my day downtown. But I called last night and found out that they had overbooked and I was no longer needed. So even though I'm headed to work, I feel like my year has one extra bonus day tacked on.
Speaking of work, it's been very lax in comparison to my previous life. I can't say I mind.
I've also been enjoying doing things in the evenings that are not work related. On Monday night our friend O came by for the evening. We had a beer, sat and talked for about an hour, and then watched (another bad) episode of 24. (I'm really disappointed with 24 this season.) Then last night another friend of ours stopped through Philadelphia on his way between NYC and Baltimore, so we went to Fuji Mountain for dinner. (Sushi! Again, I can't say I mind.) And tomorrow we have plans to celebrate with someone who recently got a job (actually two jobs). It's a different kind of busy than I was before, and a lot more fun.
This weekend I probably need to work on my dissertation revisions, but at least by then I will have had a fun week and the weather will have dropped by 20-30 degrees, so I don't think I'll really mind staying inside.
